We're moving!!Ok, I've had it - I'm sick of Joomla, and sick of trying to get Hackerdemia.com to run the way I want to. I will still be moving everything, but primarily back to the Heorot.net site. Just follow the links on the left to find the new material. Why the move? The de-ice.net site cannot support itself, and needs to be closer aligned with a revenue stream. The projects themselves will still stay Open Source (yay!), so don't fear about that. Also, announcements will continue to be made on this site (such as new Pentest LiveCDs) for those people who just feel dirty having to go visit a site that wants you to spend money >;-) Anyway, move is heavily underway, and of course, please let me know if there are any hiccups that you encounter (like login info being wrong, etc.) You can do so by emailing me at: twilhelm [at] heorot [dot] net Thanks for understanding!! This site is the Open Source Project Center for the Hackerpedia and Penetration Test LiveCD projects. The Hackerpedia project is a community-driven wiki of all things hacker-related, while the PenTest LiveCDs provide those interested in learning how to PenTest the opportunity to practice and learn against servers in a real-world scenario.
This project has been presented at security conferences across the US, and is detailed in the new book: "Penetration Tester's Open Source Toolkit, Vol. 2," (Chapter 9) released by Syngress Publishing in October, 2007. In addition, it can be found referenced in "Metasploit Toolkit for Penetration Testing, Exploit Development, and Vulnerability Research" (Appendix B) published by Syngress in September, 2007. The latest press is in the 3/2008 issue of Hakin9 magazine.
To download and use these LiveCD PenTest disks, visit the link on the left. They are free to use, and published under the GNU copyright. Enjoy!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ONLINE COURSES!!!For those people interested in formal, online penetration testing training, the staff at De-ICE.net is offering courses through the sister-site Heorot.net. These courses will provide extensive training for those interested in learning Penetration Testing.
Here is a description of the courses:
ATTENTION!!!If you sign up and have not received a reply within 24 hours, it's because your email address is bouncing. I actually have tried to contact people using three different accounts and they still all bounce. Please contact me through another email address, because this is frustrating for the both of us.Press Release - New LocationPosted by: Grendel on Wednesday, April 02, 2008 - 03:54 PM

We’ve recently made exciting improvements to our business. On April 2, 2008, the founder at Heorot.net signed a tenant agreement for an office location on the north side of Colorado Springs, CO. This change will allow us to provide better service to clients interested in participating in our regional Colorado training. Previously, the training location was random, which posed difficulties for the Heorot.net staff and students. With this new agreement, we have a dedicated location to provide for all our training needs.

I am happy to announce that at three am this morning, the Heorot Penetration Testing Fundamentals course (HPTF) is online and available immediately. If you have signed up but did not receive the information regarding access to the class, contact me and we will straighten things out.
Thanks for everyone's patience - I received many (MANY!) emails daily indicating excitement and eagerness to get started, so I'm glad it's finally live. Good luck, and enjoy!!! twilhelm [at] herot [dot] net I'm an authorPosted by: Grendel on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 - 04:46 PM

I just received a FedEx package containing my first published book (I'm a co-author). Needless to say, I'm quite excited. The book hasn't hit the bookstores yet (I received an advance copy), but I would imagine sometime this week or next you'll be able to see my name splattered on a book cover.

My speech at DefCon 15 has been posted on Google Video. For those who missed the chance to see me speak, check out the link in the "Videos" section, located under "Main Menu."
I'll be speaking on the same topic at PhreakNIC next week, but I'll be adding some new material. From what I understand, they also record the talks, so when that video gets posted, I'll post a link to that as well. For those who missed my DefCon presentation for whatever reason, if you are going to attend PhreakNIC this year, I'll be presenting on the topic of Pentest Labs using this site's LiveCDs. I hope you get the chance to stop by and hear my talk, and for those who want to actually test drive the disks, I'll set up my lab laptop as a server so people can hack away (I'm sure I can find a place to do this, but it will be an ad hoc event). Anyway, I look forward to attending PhreakNIC this year (first time), and if you're going to attend, let me know and we can have a beer or three.

For those who are interested in learning how to do Penetration Testing (or hacking if you want to be "edgy") I have created some LiveCD "targets" that provide you with pentesting challenges. Based on my own personal experience, these disks mirror real-world scenarios.
